Hi Folks,

We are very excited to announce we have been added to the already amazing line up at The Apollo Bay Music Festival 2013. We will play the main stage at 11.45pm on Saturday April 27, and we will be joined by some very special guests (stay tunes for details). There is so many great bands this year it is set to be a cracking festival and your chance to milk that last glimmer of summer, before the cold sets in and we all go into hibernation. After a few months in hibernation working on some exciting new projects for 2013 (watch this space for those), we are excited to announce a series of shows around the country including finally launching Morland’s Ball in Perth and Tasmania. Also with the warmer months approaching, as it was so eloquently put by ‘Kenny’ “As soon as the sun comes out every bastard has a festival, it just goes bonkas.”, we will be heading around the country to countless festivals, which we are proud to announce will include Harvest Festival Melbourne in early November, Eclipse Festival in Cairns and Wave Rock in Perth. So no matter what corner of Australia you are in, we will soon be bringing our traveling show of madness to a venue near you. There is a magical and mythical place called Bourbon and Branch hidden behind a discreet door in a seedy, run-down part of San Francisco. The entrance is obscure and deliberately hard-to-find while entry to this plush hedonistic lair requires a secret password.

When the thirsty reveler enters this elusive and enigmatic place they feel as if they are stepping into a different dimension of reality. Suddenly the drab ordinariness of the outside world is replaced with the heady sensation of having slipped into some decadent Prohibition-era speakeasy.

Listening to The Woohoo Revue has a similarly transporting effect. There is nothing mundane, conservative or everyday about this wildly attired and sonically arresting swinging sextet. Their buoyant and jazzy gypsy-infused instrumental tunes would fit perfectly in the darkly romantic atmosphere of a bar like Bourbon and Branch as both bar and band share a refreshingly bohemian edginess.

There is something decidedly lusty and nocturnal about this band’s music that seems sure to unleash the sweetest and most reckless passions. There is also something very ‘Johnny Depp’ about The Woohoo Revue: the glint in the eye; the swashbuckling irreverence; the wicked yet knowing smile; the zesty circus-tent glamour; and that rare and precious ability to be both irrevocably left-field and fabulously popular at the same time.

Exploding with the joyous sounds of horns, strings and drums this vital spark of an eleven-track album will transform even the humblest lounge room into a jiving ballroom, a sawdust-encrusted big top or, if you are very lucky, a secret, hidden place positively crackling with mystery and celebration.

National tour venue shows start tomorrow!

The Woohoo Revue’s national tour run of venue shows starts tomorrow in the Gold Coast! The band have warmed up their show at a run of recent and well received festival shows including Port Fairy, Illawarra Folk, Cabargo Folk, The National and WA’s Fairbridge festival.

Be sure to check out the bands tour dates and pre book to avoid disappointment as some of the show capacity numbers are quite small.

We are proud to announce that thewoohoorevue.com.au is finally up and running. The guys at 3sidedsquare in Westgarth have been diligently developing this most beautiful website over the past month or so.

It has been a epic undertaking for the designers Lee and Locky and although we still have some fine tuning to do we are all really happy with the final result.

Not only is it very beautiful it has everything you would come to expect from a great band website. Colourful images, a shop for the merch, info about the tour, you can listen the music and much more. If you like what you see and are looking for some web design why not touch base with the guys at 3 sided square. They are very professional, dedicated and good communicators. Oh and they designed our wax seal logo design too!

Melbourne’s The Woohoo Revue are back with another installment of absolute dance floor mayhem presenting their new album Moreland’s Ball. Tearing up, down and around the country with a string of tour dates befitting a road hardened band of troubadours, you can catch The Woohoo Revue throughout April and May at festivals including the National Folk Festival (ACT), Fairbridge Festival (WA), and at clubs and venues in metro and regional QLD, NSW, SA and VIC. Their 18 date tour finishes with a cataclysmic hometown launch at Melbourne’s The Hi-Fi on May 25.

Call them what you will – ‘Balkan gypsy brass band, roaring twenties swing ensemble, Wild West fiddle contest or a soundtrack for Looney Tunes’ – It barely scratches the surface. There are few, if any parallels to the sound of The Woohoo Revue.
